What is Pickleball?

As it might sound like a funny word, Pickleball is actually an over 50 years old game, which has gained a lot of popularity over the recent years. Originated in Washington, United States, the sport is a mix of tennis, badminton and ping-pong which biggest advantage it’s its wide range of skills levels, making it suitable for players of all ages.

Another great advantage of the game it’s that it can be played almost anywhere, being played in both indoors and outdoors, not even needing special facilities for those who don´t live near them and still want to play!


How to play Pickleball


The sport can be play as a one-on-one or in teams up to three players on each side of the 20' x 44' badminton-sized court. Each player it’s equiped with an over-sized ping-pong paddle, designed to hit the ball. The pickleball ball it’s quite recognizable, since it’s perforated and specially designed to be slow-moving.

According to the rules, the ball must be served underhand and diagonally. The server will continue serving, alternating service court, until it commits a fault. It’s important to notice that points can only be scored by the side that serve when the opponent faults.

While getting to the final score, if the two sides are tied at 10 points a piece, the side that goes ahead by two points wins. But without a tie, the first side scoring 11 points leading by at least two points wins the game!
