Bio:

Gabriel Joseph has been with Team Electrum for over 2 years now and we are so proud to have him on our team. Originally from West Hills, CA, Gabe currently resides in Tarzana, CA where he teaches tennis and pickleball full time at the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center. Gabe was first introduced to pickleball in 2016, but didn’t touch a paddle again until January or 2019, where he then began competing in tournaments and started taking the sport more seriously. Gabe’s love for pickleball has stemmed from a love of meeting new people throughout the sport, in addition to his love for competition, where he feeds off competing and playing in front of a crowd. His inspiration comes from his parents because of their dedication, loyalty, and hard work. Additional inspiration is drawn from Nipsey Hussie, Nick Kygrios, and other influential/inspiring figures of that sort, particularly people who got out from the mud and made something out of nothing, “it gets me going and inspires me to achieve the success of those before me”.

Gabe uses our original paddle, the Electrum Pro, due to the solid core and extreme grit. “The paddle bites and pockets the ball, majorly complimenting my game, which revolves around driving the ball and going for aggressive passing shots”, Gabriel Joseph. Which feeds into his favorite shot, the backhand passing shot, “I love to just hit the ball as hard as I can and pray for the best”.

When asked what advice Gabe would give to the next generation of pickleball pro’s, Gabe responded, “Understand that nothing really worthwhile happens overnight, so stick to the script until you make something happen. Instead of trying to build a brick wall, lay a brick every day. Eventually you will look up and have a brick wall”.

Aside from pickleball, Gabe enjoys playing paddle tennis and hanging out with his puppy, Kobe. Like most top pickleball players, Gabe comes from a high level tennis background, but most people probably don’t know he actually played high school basketball. He also enjoys watching horror movies, listening to his favorite artists including Drake, Jay-Z, and Nipsey Hussie, as well as listening to his favorite podcasts: VladTV, Joe Rogan, and The Breakfast Club.

Lastly, you’ve seen Gabe’s on court persona, but he would like readers to know, “ I am very charismatic and outgoing. I like to talk a lot and may come off as goofy, but I have a high value for loyalty, love and respect. In my free time, I listen to a lot of music and am a big movie buff. I also think I have the most swag and personality out of all the players on the tour”.
